The movie Y tu mamá también (2001) marked the nomonation of this mexican filmmaker breakthrough and led to a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. His directing of the fantasy picture Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) brought him greater recognition.

Y tu mamá también(2001) , starring Gael García Bernal, Diego Luna and Maribel Verdú. The story of two sexually obsessive teens who go on a long road journey with a beautiful married woman who is much older than them is presented in this colorful and controversial road comedy.

Highly recommended.

One of his latest movies is called Roma, which its production began in fall 2016$, a tale of a housekeeper for a middle class Mexican family in 1970s Mexico City, based on the life of his own family.
